Covid-19 and the Holidays… Please do continue to be cautious about contact with others outside of your household.  If you are traveling or having out-of-town guests in your home over the holidays, we are encouraging you to keep kids home from school for the week following the gathering.  We will support your students remotely in this situation.  We trust families to make good decisions, so we will not be mandating a school closure as some schools have done.  But please do help us keep all of our students and staff safe and able to continue to learn together in-person!

REMINDER: As the weather changes, please be sure to have children come to school with appropriate outdoor weather gear!  Hats, coats, gloves as it gets colder… WE DO GO OUTSIDE for recess times and fresh air.

WE ENCOURAGE PROMPT ARRIVAL for school!

The school doors open at 8:15 each day, and we have allowed for a 15-minute arrival window. SCHOOL BEGINS AT 8:30!  The drop-off area sometimes gets congested in the 8:25-8:30 time frame, so we are encouraging families to arrive a few minutes earlier if possible.  If more families arrive early, it helps the whole process! If everyone arrives in the 8:15-8:25 window, teachers are able to start the day at 8:30.  Thank you for your attention to this!

PTF MEETING DATE: Please note, the CLA PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship) Zoom meeting has been moved to Monday, November 23 at 7 pm. A zoom link will be provided prior to the meeting.

From The Principal’s Desk…

Over the past week, we have seen a lot going on with local schools needing to go remote, cases of Covid-19 and quarantines on the rise, and just recently our first cases for CLA students.  It feels much “closer to home” than it did several weeks ago.  CLA’s current numbers include two students that have had a positive Covid-19 test, thankfully with very little contact at school.  We have 8 students and one staff person in quarantine due to contacts in or outside of school, and our high school has moved to remote learning for a short time.  We are thankful for God’s provision and protection.

Our staff has been planning for the time when we need to adjust school-wide, and today we are sending some information about these plans.  Please note, at this time we will NOT be making a change. At some point, we may need to reduce the possibility of transmission by moving to smaller groups and less time at school.  Please know that we want to have full in-person learning happening at CLA… but that we also will be careful and cautious for the safety of our students and staff. At any time, feel free to talk with me about this!
