“POCKET CHANGE WARS!”

SEND in the DIMES next week!

The next two weeks… Pocket Change Wars will continue.  Watch the brief introduction video from Mr. Horning at this link https://youtu.be/iaiKYjMxUSY.  This is organized by Parent-Teacher Fellowship (PTF).  Money raised will help to support classroom and teacher needs at CLA.  The students are competing for their TEAMS - the team that brings in the most coins each week gets a prize.  Each week, students should bring in a different coin:

Week 1 - Pennies

Winner: 6th grade

Week 2 - Nickels

9/21 through 9/25

Week 3 - Dimes

9/28 through 10/2

Week 4 - Quarters

10/5 through 10/9

So empty those pockets, search the cushions of the sofa, ask grandma and grandpa to do the same…. and get in on the Pocket Change Wars!

Winter Sports information…

CLA offers sports for many age levels.  We continue to work through the details of what winter sports will look like during these times, but we will be conducting some polls (coming soon) about participation to help determine scheduling.  Sports that are likely or being considered for the winter:

Elementary (grades 3-6) basketball High School Boys Basketball Cheerleading

Junior High (grades 6-8) basketball High School Girls Basketball

If your child is interested in any of these, keep your eyes open for information coming up soon. We also did some informal polling at school last week.

Technology Corner

Having Tech Issues?  Now that our students and teachers have “hit their stride” in the school year, this is a reminder that if you have technology issues - chromebook issues, struggling to get the digital communication from school, or anything else tech-related, please ask for help!  We have multiple staff members that can help get these issues solved. Just ask!

Reminder - devices are monitored by GoGuardian.  All chromebooks which are used at school, whether owned by CLA, or personally-owned devices that are loaded with a school license, are monitored during off school hours.  This is necessary for school use, since off-hours searches and activity often affect in-school usage peripherally. If students do not wish to be monitored by GoGuardian they need to use a different device than the one that is licensed by the school. Want to know more? Mrs. Stribling or Mr. Horning would be glad to talk with you!

From the Principal's Desk

As we turn to fall, I am celebrating that we have now passed the “we made it through a month” mark for the school year.  That is a celebration because there were times that we thought we might not be able to come back to school.  Thank you, CLA families, for your partnership with us.  Thank you also, in advance, for your participation in LIFE DAYS, which will come up the first weekend of November.  You will see many details coming out over the next two weeks about LIFE DAYS.  It is our greatest celebration and fundraiser each year.  It subsidizes, in a good year, nearly 15% of the budgetary needs of our school.  Let’s make this LIFE DAYS an even better one than we could ever expect!

Blessings,

        Mr. Horning
